The Colour Purple.

The word purple apparently originated from the name of a dye from a shellfish called porphyra in Greek. The dye was rare and expensive and used for colouring the robes of Roman emperors and magistrates.

These days the expression "having a purple patch" is used to describe a time when things are going particularly well, although musical legend has it that there was once a People Eater of the same colour.

On the first of May, why not share your experience with the colour Purple by participating in our theme day?

Actually, it will probably be first on Facebook, or Twitter, or maybe you'll hear about it from the nice old guy next door. Whatever the case, if you have news to share, how about sharing it with us, so we can share it with everyone and actually make these pages useful?
